Nendaz is a great base for the 4 vallées and while it might not have the famous name of it's neighbor Verbier it still is a large village with plenty going on.
The resort is not well known in Britain but is a major resort, with over 17,000 beds (practically all in apartments). It has attractions, relatively low prices among them. It's a sprawling place, and the centre is busy with traffic. Most of the resort is modern but built in traditional chalet style, and an old core remains, with quaint houses and barns alongside great views across the Rhône valley. Alongside this there are no shortage of bars, shops and restaurants. There are 100km of walks, an ice rink, fitness centre, climbing wall and squash courts.
Sat in the heart of the Four Valleys 414km of pistes Nendaz gives access to slopes ranging from 1,350 to 3,330m, and served by 91 lifts - by far the largest ski area wholly within Switzerland. It's the perfect opportunity to get some serious miles under you, with north facing slopes well suited for to intermediate or advanced skiers. Those looking to head off piste will welcome access to Verbier's legendary slopes without the eye-watering prices associated with the resort itself.La Ruinette: Verbier − 4 Vallées − Fontanay
